Some of the finest examples of the famous Oaxacan Alebrijes. Made from copal wood these animals are painted with natural dyes, the intricate patterns are based on Zapotec mythology.Through out the state of Oaxaca locals will sell alebrijes to tourists though some of the very best of these wood carvings come from the community of Tilcajete, Oaxaca. These particular pieces are creations of Jacobo and Maria Angeles, trues masters of their craft.
